Sweet Tooth

Okay, maybe she doesn't have teeth yet, but this sweet girl loves some candy!!!
Olivia's niece, Maria, reportedly has been asking for table food, but instead, she gets to play with/lick candy treats!

He Was Robbed!

Needless to say, we were disappointed by the outcome of the Dancing with the Stars finale. Even though Brooke was a good dancer, she just didn't do it for either of us. But, she, as she seemingly expected, took the crown. We loved Warren throughout, but Lance really was better. So, a third place wasn't what we thought was in the cards for Sir Dance-a-lot. His dancing has certainly improved since homecoming 1994 — as has his fashion sense. We won't even mention Lauchlin's...

Here's Lance and Lacey's last good performance...

Out of the Closet!

We are grateful that two of the bazillion closets in our house have been organized and cleared. Clemmie is doing her part by making sure she fills it back up with dust bunnies!

We also give thanks...for our five days off — starting today. We couldn't help but get a little in the spirit!

Cheers, y'all!

A Monumental Family

Olivia recently visited the Johnny Vaught monument in Oxford. Arguably, Vaught is the best coach Ole Miss ever had. As if that weren't bloggable enough, the monument is the work of Kim Sessums, our friend, Karole's brother.
We first saw his work in the Vicksburg National Military Park, where the African American monument he created stands.

In Our Hands

Lance has made it through the semi-finals of Dancing WIth The Stars. We got excited and decided to try our hands at choreographing some moves for him with this puppet that Lauchlin received as a gift during 'N SYNC's "No Strings Attached" album fame.

Don't forget to vote for Lance & Lacey tonight!!!

'Tis the Season!

Sorry for the long delay in blogging! We have been super busy promoting the many H.C. Porter Gallery book signings (we worked a total of about 140 hours last week — and, yes, that does count the 40 hours Olivia put in for her real job, but still!). And, although there were plenty of bloggable moments amidst all the late hours and tiring jobs (like the two of us scrubbing plastic chairs with Clorox outside the gallery), we just didn't have time to document everything. So, we're looking forward instead...

Before all the craziness began, we spent a Sunday afternoon being lazy and visiting with Lauchlin's mom in Clinton. We found this Christmas plate Lauchlin "designed" in kindergarten (or at least we hope it was kindergarten — the wear and tear has made it impossible to tell if the plate was made in 1983 or 1985, which would make a big difference). Regardless, it obviously didn't take too kindly to the not-so-gentle use over the years and apparently isn't microwave safe! It helped kick start the holiday season for us, though.

One Year Homeowners

One year ago today, we signed the papers (lots of them) and officially bought our house! Time flies. We have only 29 more years until we are mortgage-free!

Fire Pit, Fire in the Grill and So Much S'more!

Since we both had the weekend off, we thought we'd do a cookout and fire pit on Saturday with some friends.
We utilized the ring of dead grass that was left once we removed the inflatable pool. The fire, thanks to the Boy Scouts and Girl Scout, was a roaring success!

We cooked burgers, which caught on fire, making what Mary Beth termed "char broiled" burgers. See her documentation of them here. And, the s'mores were a hit, too.

We never did Whip-its in high school, so we were excited when Mary Beth brought over a kind of alcoholic whipped cream with cinnamon flavoring that we passed around like shots...one time each.

Some of us cared for it less than others.

Katie Carter, a professional photographer, helped us capture a true picture of our fire by adjusting the setting on Lauchlin's fabulously under-used camera.

Will Write for Food!

Lauchlin was approached by Sally Bullard, the owner of Main Street Market, one of our favorite restaurants in Vicksburg, a couple of weeks ago.

The proposed meeting: For Lauchlin to interview Sally and her chef husband Chris in order to pen an article about the restaurant. They are looking for some ink in Mississippi Magazine.

The payment: Dinner for two!

Now, that's what we call a sweet deal!
