Wii...Love Golfing in Our Pajamas!

Since "Santa" brought Lauchlin a Wii and Wii Fit Plus, the routine of watching Wheel of Fortune over dinner has been traded for nine holes of golf and a short tennis match before dinner. After dinner, we'll squeeze in some circus juggling and skateboarding!
Next time you see us, we might look more like the below photos:

Wii are looking forward to a fun and "fit" new year.

Bring It On, Santa...

We are finally ready! The shopping is finished, and the presents are pouring from the bottom of the tree - just fwaiting to be opened....

Stockings are waiting to be stuffed...

And a special treat awaits the cats...

Shhh! It's a block of cheese with 60 mice.

Now, we just eagerly await family from near and far to come celebrate this joyous time!

New Kid On the Block

We helped welcome David Allen Mitchell, our newest and youngest neighbor, into the world Saturday.

He was a ripe one-day old when we visited him in the hospital. We'll let Ned and MB and their families get settled and enjoy this first Christmas before we start demanding more baby time.
But, it will be tough...

He's definitely a keeper! I mean, look at this face...

Hate the Sin,

not the cat.

We took away Mojo and Clementine's pet fountain because we didn't have a replacement filter, so Mojo has been seeking other forms of hydration. Drinking from the tree: cute, but this is gross!

Dirty Santa Party

We hosted a pot luck dirty Santa party over a week ago. Here are some of the highlights:

Liz initially unwrapped this gift, but we actually got to keep it.

Then, Liz took the coveted Snuggie and book light from Katie just as she was getting comfortable.

Griffin would not let go of his prize, even when Olivia kicked over Manu's water.

Baby Watch

We were asked to take part in one of the last calls of duty while we all await the arrival of Baby M.

We witnessed the signing of Ned and Mary Beth's wills. It's a morbid - but necessary - step into parenthood, we learned. We were honored to be part of this process and squeeze in an extra visit with the couple before "game day." We also pawned off on them a homemade Christmas ornament, a leftover Cornish game hen and the movie, "Julie & Julia."
Now that the business is taken care of, it's time for the final countdown.
By Friday morning, we'll know whether this NKOTB is a girl or boy. And, by Saturday, we'll be getting baby love!

Movie and a Dinner

Hotty Toddy!

We hopped in the car with Sandy, Liz, and Griffin to go see The Blind Side on Friday night.

We loved SJ, Michael Oher's brother and life coach, and Sandra Bullock didn't disappoint us either. Of course, the best part was all of the Ole Miss gear (Kathy Bates in a sweatshirt...) and the pictures of Vaught-Hemingway Stadium on the big screen.

We wrapped up the night at Petra in Clinton. We missed the belly dancing portion of the night, but, since we were the only people there, we were treated to a free trip to the salad bar complete with hummus and fried pita chips. Yummy.

The above photo is the only shot we were able to get while we were filling our own bellies.

Christmas Is...

Untangling the lights from last year - with Clemmie's help...

Noticing the tree - and the cat - are thirstier than usual...

And discovering really old Christmas ornaments that, apparently, are native to our house - like plastic Christmas cherubs...?

Needless to say, our tree is up, decorated and beautiful! It's beginning to feel a lot like Christmas.

joyeux anniversaire

We spent Monday night at Alex, Sophie, and Manu's house for Manu's first birthday! Here he is with one of his favorite old toys, the snowman...

and on his new John Deere riding toy complete with brush guard.

But, his favorite gift of the night seemed to be the paper we used to wrap a push toy!!

Doe's...and Snow?!

Friday we headed to Doe's Eat Place in Greenville to celebrate our friend, Sandy's, birthday. The steaks, fries and good company were well worth the two-hour drive!

Even little Manu was able to enjoy the festivities:

When we arrived back in Warren County, we were welcomed by a winter wonderland! The ground and trees were covered with snow. The next morning, The snow was glistening in the front yard...

This is probably as close as we'll ever get to a white Christmas, but we'll take it!

Blue Christmas

Nothing says Christmas like our very special tiny Elvis tree! We haven't yet purchased a real tree, but we decided to go ahead and pull out the decorations in preparation for the upcoming decorating extravaganza.
So...
The stockings are all hung by the chimney...

And we've found a good use for the few decades-old Christmas ornaments that once hung on Lauchlin's grandmother's tree in this same house long ago:

Comimg soon: Our very own scarcely decorated, but REAL, Christmas tree and gawdy porch lights. Man, we love Christmas.
Stay tuned!
