A Star is Born

We have spent a lot of time the past 10 days doting over our little guy by taking pictures and videos documenting his every move. We're thoroughly convinced that he's quite possibly the cutest thing ever.

No...make that definitely the cutest thing ever!

Due Date

Today is the date we have had marked on our calendars since we started expecting our little bean in November. We were lucky to have him a week early and, boy, what a wonderful week it's been!

On Saturday, we took Grady home from the hospital in his enormous car seat, and he enjoyed the whole ride home...asleep...

And introduced him to life at home...

He's quite fond of life on the outside...

Needless to say, we have really fallen in love and have been enjoying our new little family...

Grady's First Day

We were so happy to finally welcome Grady Vaughn Foshee Fields into the world Thursday.

His grand entrance was much more fast and furious than expected. We went in "to get things started" at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday, with an induction scheduled for 5:30 the next morning and expectations of the little guy arriving around 12 hours or so later.

Well, this 6 pound, 3 ounce bundle of joy arrived, instead, at 5:05 a.m. Thursday — much to the surprise of his moms and ALL of the medical staff.  Our doctor who arrived just moments before the kid crowned said that Lauchlin was in labor for a total of four and a half hours. So, after nine pushes,  we met our very sweet and beautiful son...
He spent his first day meeting family and charming everyone with his calm disposition.

Yep, he's a keeper.

The Final Countdown

We're down to two full days of baby-prep, and so far, so good. Baby G now has a place to sleep...

A cool and safely installed ride for the trip home....

And a stylish mirror to boot...

This little guy, though showing no signs of wanting to come out on his own yet, will be in good shape when he does arrive Thursday. And, after seeing the below ultrasound, a profile pic of our then-estimated 7 pound, 5 ounce son, we are beyond ready to meet him.

Just look at those cute, little lips — just waiting for mommy kisses.

Preparation G

is underway!  Last night, Sandy, Ned, and Mary Beth helped witness the signing of our legal documents.  Whew!  What a way to spend an evening.

Today, however, the evening was spent trying to install the new car seat...
After a few failed attempts and a kind visit from the neighbor (Is this an emergency or just "preparation?'), we decided to get out the manual and do some homework.

We also moved in the larger-than-life bassinet, and a new mattress and cover are on their way.  Clementine and Mojo think it's their new cat bed...since we just got them a crib and all.   Fortunately, feline and baby will have room to share ;).

Preparation G is going to have to hurry along a bit faster than we'd originally intended due to an update from the doctor that if he's not here before July 21, he'll be born on that day.  Out with the "Leo" lions, and in with the "Cancer" crabs!  We're ready for this baby...well, as soon as the bassinet is assembled and the car seat installed, the breast pump obtained, the baby monitor set up, the diaper sprayer hose attached......

New Kids in Town

Olivia was introduced to Lauchlin's childhood collection of Beatrix Potter animals, which is being passed down to our little guy.

His room is now complete since Peter Rabbit and friends moved into the special case Lauchlin's mom and her generous friends bought for us.

We took some time to hang out with these plush friends first...

We're pretty sure Pigling Bland will be one of Grady's favorites!

Our little rebel's gonna dine in style thanks to Olivia's mom.

She went in "Sarah," and came out Super-Nanny...we wish!

Lucy and Ellen donned their seer-sucker.
Grady got some clothes made especially for him!

We're so lucky to have such great friends and family!  Thanks, all!
