It Really Sucks!

Grady, like his moms, loves the new Dyson rechargeable vacuum we purchased and had delivered last week. It's been on our wish list for a long time, and we have enjoyed it so much that we have been looking for reasons to use it. With two cats, we have found plenty of excuses to let it rip.
Grady loves crawling after the vacuum and giggling.
It did not, however, suck his sock off his foot, as much as it looks that way in this photo.

Cat fur and dust no longer have a home in our house thanks to the handy-dandy Dyson!

Nine and Nine

Grady turned 9 months old Saturday, the same day his cousin, May, turned 9 years old.
Here are the two cousins hanging at the park a couple of weeks ago.

Grady loves his May-May.

Grady spent his 9-month birthday visiting with and waving to people who strolled off the street from Riverfest into the gallery. He also spent some quality time with his Nanie, followed by a trip to McDonald's to celebrate the 9-year-old.

Grady had a very busy eighth month. He started crawling, pulling up, cruising and waving all in the same month. Who knows what's in store for his ninth month!

Here are his current stats:

Weight: 21 pounds, 1 ounce

Height: 29 5/8 inches

Diaper size: 4

Clothing Size: 18 months

Teeth: 2 bottom, 3 top (and another coming in)

Food: Pears and Puffs are his favorites.

He's been eating mostly fresh fruits, steamed vegetables, whole grain pastas and breads he can pick-up and eat. We made spinach lasagna today for him (and us), and he liked it! It's been a lot of fun to introduce new foods to him.

Here is our sweet boy at nine months...

Banjo Baby

As Grady battled his double ear infection and his first time being sick in almost 9 months, he tried to make himself feel better by dancing to some Wilco. He seemed to especially enjoy the banjo, which made his Mom very proud...

Big Vaughn, Grady's banjo-playing grandfather and one of his namesakes, was smiling down on this for sure!

Pulling Up

Last week, Grady perfected pulling up (and even cruising) in his Pack-n-Play at work.

He was so proud every time he went from sitting to standing...

And, by Friday, this strong guy was rocking the Pack-n-Play with only one hand...

Meeting JDM

We took Grady to meet Team Mitchell's new addition, John Daniel, this weekend. It seems like just yesterday that we were snuggling with our tiny 2-week-old, but Grady hardly seems "little" at all now compared to John.
We were all so happy to meet little John and see sweet big brother David and his parents.

Brusha, Brusha, Brusha

Grady has taken a liking to brushing his four teeth, a brand new addition to his morning and nighttime routines...

He can even do it all by himself...

Amigos

Grady had a play date with his friends at the park last week.
He loved hanging out with his friend, Leo Sanchez, who is only three weeks younger.

These guys enjoyed sharing a swing...
Grady, who is now wearing 18 month size clothes, size 4 diapers and size 4 shoes, has a couple of inches (and more than a few pounds) on his little buddy, Leo.
But, these guys are happy to just hang together...
We also enjoyed seeing Desmond Carter, who was in town for a visit for the busy birthday/holiday weekend.
We miss Desmond and his mom so much, so it was great to have a weekend visit. We plan to make a trip to New Orleans to visit them soon.

Teeth...

This guy has four already! The two new chompers on top have joined the two on the bottom that popped in just last month. Grady is fond of his new teeth...and he knows how to use them. He very carefully chews  toast, bagels, steamed carrots, all kinds of fruits and even little pieces of chicken. Check out these pearly whites...

Easter

Grady had a big first Easter...

The annual Easter portrait.
Grady loved pulling out the candy from his Easter basket. He did not (and will not) eat any of the treats the Easter Bunny delivered to Nanie's house, but his moms probably will.
Grady was quick to show his silly side.
He had the best time playing with his cousins, Lydia and Virginia. They have good hair for pulling, apparently.

He made up for trying to eat Lydia's face during church by snuggling with her later.
This guy was a trooper wearing the pink and orange plaid shorts Nanie bought him so he could match his girl cousins.

He was determined to show his manly side.

As always, he loved riding Mommy's shoulders...
And getting lots of kisses from Mom.

Birthday Crawl

Lauchlin celebrated her 33rd birthday Saturday with a small gathering of friends and family on Sandy's lawn. It was a perfect spring day!

Grady, dressed in his adorable bunny outfit, gave his Mom the best birthday gift — he crawled a full on crawl for the first time.
We even caught it on video, so you can see for yourself...

Small Shopping Carts in Ridgeland

Grady spent this past weekend in Ridgeland and the Fourth Annual Renaissance Fine Arts Festival.   As usual, he enjoyed running errands with Mommy (Olivia).  Above: tiny orange carts at Michael's craft store on the mission to find a silver, medium-sized paint pen

At the Fresh Market, Grady enjoyed grabbing the pears, which are hands-down his favorite snacks.

Grady insisted that we get him an apple half as large as his head.
