A Sign of The Times

We spent our weekend at the nuptial of sweet couple: Mott Roland Headley and Martha Magnuson. Martha and Lauchlin's mothers were high school friends, and although Martha lived in Austin, Texas, the two girls grew up spending time together at Broadacres, the Ferris Family Farm. Freaky Friday

We tried two new things Friday night: Redbox (we rented Stone with Robert DeNiro) and Yanni's Greek Gyro. Both were pretty cool. Then, we got home and found the real entertainment for the night in our own front yard:


Olivia ran across the street to alert the neighbors who concurred that it was in fact two rat snakes mating, not a two-headed snake. Shortly after, the neighborhood watch, consisting of the two of us, Mr. And Mrs. Geary, David Sharp, the little girl down the street, Daisy the Dog, and two people looking for First Street, ensued.

New Toy

We took advantage of evening hours of sunlight on Saturday to fire up the new grill Lauchlin received for her birthday. Here are chefs Lauchlin and Grady and the feast that became our dinner.


On the menu: skewered squash and zucchini with mushrooms from the first day of season three of the Vicksburg Farmers' Market, grilled asparagus, and, yes, T-Bones seasoned with Dale's. Yuh-me!

Practice Makes Perfect

We celebrated Mother's Day by watching May perform a solo at church and hanging with family. The solo went great, and May showed her true star power.

She also spent some QT with her cousin, testing out which books will be his favorites when he arrives...



The test: the more he kicked, the more he liked the book.

A visit from Desmond gave her a more realistic practice run...



She's definitely ready for her new cousin...except, she said "her sister," Ellen, will be in charge of changing his diapers.

B & B: Brunch & a Baby Bed

We both had a rare weekend of rest and relaxation, and we fully took advantage of one of our very last full weekends off pre-baby.


First, we decided to make brunch while we had Uverse installed Saturday morning. We invited Katie and Desmond over to enjoy the late-morning spread...



On the menu: fresh fruit, homemade banana muffins, breakfast casserole and hashbrowns (Desi's favorite).

Sunday was both lazy and productive as we started our day enjoying a little bit of our new and amazing new TV service followed by a walk around the neighborhood.

The big accomplishment, though, was putting the baby bed together. It was a task we completed without much trouble and without even having to enlist any of the seasoned crib owners we know.


Now our baby can sleep in style!



That is, of course, if he sleeps.
