Let the Good Times Roll!

We celebrated Mardi Gras in Vicksburg Saturday from Sandy's balcony, which served as a stationary float for the annual downtown Mardi Gras parade. Even though Lauchlin was still battling sickness, we couldn't help but get in the spirit.

Booze & Bocce

It all started with the cocktails...

We had bloody marys, mimosas (hence the above action shot of Lauchlin attempting to open the champagne) and bocce balls (yes, there's actually a drink called a bocce ball, and Sandy provided).

And, the inaugural gathering of the Vicksburg Bocce Ball Association was a roaring success!

After a few rounds, we decided to take a break and enjoy the cocktails.

Then, the neighborhood children began to take over our bocce field. So, Mary Beth had a great idea:

Adults vs. Children

Then, another idea quickly emerged:

Let the children play while the adults sit and drink (and make bets on the ponies).

Better Than Chocolate

In the spirit of Valentine's Day, we thought we'd share some news...
Olivia has been sporting some new bling. Check it out:
It was supposed to be her birthday present, but the delivery gods decided that wasn't in the cards. She was very happy to receive it Wednesday before we attended the Vicksburg Main Street Annual Board meeting. (Haley Barbour was there!) Not the best timing, but it couldn't wait any longer.
It's her birthstone (amethyst) surrounded by diamonds in a white gold band. It was a perfect fit, too.
Be sure to "eww" and "ahh" over it when you see it. And, save the date for Oct. 10!

No Debate About It...

Clementine "hearts" Obama! She couldn't take her eyes or ears off him as he addressed the nation Monday night. Maybe our new president is the new Rescue Remedy...

What the Heck Do We Care!

We broke all Weight Watchers rules Friday as we celebrated Olivia's birthday with some good friends and great food at Crechale's.

It was a real treat when the wait staff turned up the old, dusty jukebox for their rendition of "Happy Birthday!" which ended up being singing and clapping from the entire restaurant.

Sandy provided the Weight Watchers birthday cake (only three points a slice — so not all hope was lost!), and it was delicious!

Thanks to all who helped Olivia's wishes come true on her birthday!

Great at 28!

Just 28 years ago, this little cutie was born.

Happy Birthday, Olivia!

Un-canny

Yep! This is how many beer cans and Diet Cokes we had collected over the span of about three months. When Olivia took them to Vicksburg Recycling, she learned it was 25 pounds and earned $8.80. That's more beer and Diet Coke money!

Thanks to the new can crusher she received from Santa at Christmas, the load will be a lot more compressed next time.
