Oh the Possibilities...

If you haven't heard, Lauchlin bought herself an iPhone for her birthday this week.
Since then, we've been exploring the possibilities.
Tonight Olivia cooked dinner using a recipe from the AllRecipes.com app.
Not too shabby!

The Big 3-0!

We had a blast celebrating Lauchlin's 30th birthday this past weekend with family and friends at The Ware House. We wanted to share some pictures with everybody. Just click on the link and enjoy.

One of a Kind...

Whoever said that "necessity" is the mother of invention never met "boredom." Olivia completed a craft project today that definitely was not necessary, but hopefully will become a welcome addition to our basement.

Represented in the new drink table are proof of taxes paid for:
Olivia's '87 Corolla (the best $500 anyone ever spent)
Lauchlin's Jeep Cherokee (Her first SUV and dream car since high school)
Olivia's Mom's Pontiac Grand Am (Tragically hit and destroyed while parked on the street but still visible per Google Earth).
Lauchlin's father's two Cadillac Sedan DeVilles (the Red Ride),
and possibly The Fields Family's '87 Suburban (We don't have seatbelts in "are" truck.)

We have Vici to thank for giving the table to Olivia over five years ago, Ned and Mary Beth for the handicapped parking sign, and many nights on the porch for all of the bottle caps Olivia used on the legs (Not one is a duplicate!).

Total estimated value of table including ad valorem: $2,000.

All By Herself

Lauchlin and the H.C. Porter Gallery staff (Chris and Chris's mom minus Olivia) left for the Bayou City Art Festival until next Tuesday. Although the festival is only open from Friday-Sunday, it takes several days to pack and more than two driving and set up days to, well, set up the booth.

We hope that the weather holds out, that our crew holds up, and that the state of the economy drives people to invest in art so that it's worth all the effort.

"A Day at the Airport" by Larry Stephenson

As for Olivia, she'll be enjoying endless hours of Dr. Phil watching kitty-sitting time at home.

Get Out of Town!

We managed to get out of town for the weekend to Oxford to visit Olivia's family (all of Lauchlin's family had abandoned Oxford) and enjoy some R & R. While the weather was less than desirable, we enjoyed exploring God's country for a little while. Here's a taste of the fun...
We had a couple of pints at the newly renovated (the very young bartender told us it happened a year and a half ago) Proud Larry's:

We ate at our very favorite restaurant, Ajax, with Olivia's parents:

After dinner, we decided to have a drink at Jubilee (a bar we frequented back in our college days) on its last night before it changed ownership. It could have easily been an episode of "This is Your Life." All day we felt like we didn't know anyone in town anymore. And, then, bam!
We ran into Corinne, a childhood friend of Lauchlin's from Clinton:

We, then, saw Julia, a childhood friend of Olivia's:

Later, Caroline (and her adorable baby bump) showed up. Her sister, Missy, was there too:

Caroline's husband, Lance, was there for the surprise reunion. His twin brother, Kevin, was the photographer. Vici, their sister, was not in attendance, unfortunately.

Balancing out the Green Family, though, was Chris, Caroline's brother:

And, perhaps the most random of happenings was running into Sam Knowlton, aka Superman Sam. He used to be a reporter at The Vicksburg Post with Lauchlin. He's now in law school at Ole Miss:

And, as if that weren't enough excitement...

Olivia found this wonderful prop at the bar. It serves as the perfect ending to today's post!

On "The Social Scene"

Not only did we not know our picture was being taken during Gov. Haley Barbour's 30-second departure from the Vicksburg Main Street Annual Meeting (for which he was the speaker), we certainly did not know the photograph would be in this month's issue of "Bluff's & Bayous" magazine. We were alerted of this fact when Olivia was on her way to the bank and a lady she didn't know said, "Ain't you in a magazine?"
Well, we quickly learned that — yes, we is!
And, so was Rob...
