A Quiet Evening At Home

Inspired by Ned and Mary Beth's "Eat on the China Night (Wednesdays)," we have declared Thursdays "Eat at the Table Night." This was especially important when "Dancing with the Stars" and "American Idol" were on TV earlier this season.

Of course, the entire family gathered, and Clemmie tested the wine while we were plating the food.

We won't be adding orange marmalade to our rosemary chicken with wild rice next time. (Why include the peel? No one eats an orange without peeling it!)

We did, however, enjoy the Weight Watchers cheesecake recipe that Olivia made without using a springform pan.

Back on the Wagon

We have abandoned the Weight Watchers for too long! It's high time we get back to counting points, flooding ourselves with water and no longer feeling guilty. So Olivia started her first full week of summer gathering the pertinent supplies. We're back in the game!
Here is some proof:

You can never have too much yogurt.

Mmmm....lunch!

What would Weight Watchers be without "high fiber?!"

Reunited

We're both spending the weekend catching up with old friends - Olivia in Oxford for her 10 year reunion and Lauchlin in Houston for Cortney's 30th birthday.
Here's a shot from the Lonestar state:

Whirlwind Weekend

We had quite an eventful weekend full of fun and celebrating.
Here's a peek into the three-night, two-day party...

It all began Friday with a porch night to bid Richard (far left) farewell. Richard, someone we both knew — separately — from Oxford, moved to Vicksburg recently. He pretty much left before he got here. But, we certainly enjoyed him while he was here.

Below, he is looking at the Flashback from Oxford High School, where he and Olivia attended one year of high school together.

Next was a trip to our old stomping ground in Way (yes, that's Mississippi) to Camp Bratton Green (or, really, Gray Center) to the Bishop's BBQ, where we had our own "flashback."

We saw tons of old church friends, most of whom we hadn't seen in five years or more. We weren't very good at documenting these reunions, but we managed to have one picture taken — with Jason Woodcock and some other Jason we don't know. Mike Stanton, another camp buddy, is in the background.

We had just enough time to see some of our favorite musicians jam. And, we think we might have landed them a gig for October!
After the BBQ, it was back to Vicksburg for Lauchlin's cousin's wedding. Jennifer Lynne was a beautiful bride. Here she is dancing with our friend, Derek...

Unfortunately, we don't have many photos...like, Olivia's aggressive launch during the bouquet toss or Lauchlin dancing with her cousin, Michael, who decided to finger paint red wine on his tux shirt. Needless to say, it was a good time.
It felt like right when Saturday night's fun was ending, Sunday's was just beginning.
We celebrated Victoria Linares' second birthday in Clinton at Pizza Hut.

May and Ellen were there for the celebration:

After the party, we were driving back into Vicksburg when we received an invitation to a cookout at Katie's. We didn't see any reason to stop the social parade...

We night-capped our weekend with a laid-back visit with some old friends from The Post: Katie, Sean and Steve.

It's the hard knock life.

These plants have been at our house for about two weeks, since their parents, Ned and Mary Beth, left them to be fostered for a while. We got word from their blog that they're back in town and thought that they might be coming to reclaim them soon; however, we just heard from the couple that they will be leaving on Sunday for another week.

In the meantime, we'll continue to enjoy all of the compliments we receive for "our" tomatoes.

Two Too Soon

We wanted to wish this sweet little girl a happy birthday! I'm sure she's already had her cake and is dreaming of candles and bows by now but we wanted to send our wishes regardless!

Happy Birthday, Victoria Linares!

Pool rules

We set up our inflatable pool in a different spot for this coming summer. Last year, we endured some unnecessary drama because we did not have an established set of rules; therefore, all swimmers must abide by the following: 1. Do not set up a pool where your crazy neighbor can see (and think it is on her property, involve lawyers, etc.) 2. No dogs 3. No diving or cannonballs 4. Supervise your own children (preferably using your paralytic parental rays as depicted in the illustration on the side of the pool.) 5. Have fun and obey the lifeguard (Lauchlin) at all times. (see picture below).
