Oh, Boy! Oh, Boy! Oh, Boy!

It was a slow snow day at our last doctor's appointment, which not only meant Olivia was able to go, but also that we were able to have an early sonogram.

So, a whole month early, we were able to find out that our little bean is a....BOY! The sonogram wasn't completely clear to us, but our technician assured us that she knows the difference between "boy parts" and "girl parts," and we are definitely having a boy. Here's the acrobatic, between the legs shot she took to get her evidence:

Even though we won't be buying any bows and tutus, we have jumped full-swing into the excitement of having a little man in the house. And, our friends and family are making sure this boy has a spectacular wardrobe...

We return to the doctor in a couple of weeks for yet another sonogram. We both can't wait to see our little guy again!

Jimbo Sings the Blues

Lauchlin went on a photo shoot with H.C. Porter this past Monday to capture Jimbo Mathus on film for the Blues at Home project she is busy creating. Here are the two (and baby) hanging out in Como.

Making Way for Baby

On this beautiful Sunday, we took advantage of our together time and made some much needed closet space for the newest addition of our family. Our little one has been very fortunate thanks to many of our friends and family members' generosity, and it looks like our baby will be well-dressed for awhile.
Speaking of well-dressed, we assessed and minimized Olivia's wardrobe down from four closets and four dressers to two closets and two dressers - an amazing feat!
Now, she's down to only 51 dresses, about 15 black shirts, 10 pairs of jeans and at least five pairs of black pants. No, we're not kidding!


And, the River City Rescue Mission might need to take out an ad to alert the town of this huge clothing extravaganza headed their way. We seriously could clothe half of Vicksburg with this load. Out with the old, in with the tiny and adorable!

Family...

We've been a little slow blogging all the big news in our lives. We've had everything from a 30th birthday and a doctor's appointment to a wonderful performance of Mamma Mia! in Jackson last night. We promise to do back-posts to catch everyone up on all the excitement. For now, we wanted to share a video a friend sent us. With the super exciting journey we have ahead, it was very enlightening to see this:

In case you didn't know, we were legally married in Iowa last summer. So, we have a special place in our heart for that place. Now, we have a special place in our hearts for Zach Wahls. We have no doubt that our Baby Bean will be just as successful...and even cuter, of course!

D.C. You Later, Liz!

Our friend and neighbor, Liz, is leaving Vicksburg for a new job in D.C. We are sad to see her go, but, since she's moving to one of our favorite places, we're sure to see her again! Plus, we're hoping she'll come back to visit and meet our new addition.
Still, porch nights won't be the same without Liz bringing the popsicles!

Big News

We are taking the next step in married life. Yes, Lauchlin's been craving pickles because we're expecting a little one this July! We are so excited, and we can't wait for all of you to meet baby "Bean."


Thursday, we went to the doctor's appointment to get a closer look at this little miracle, and, although it's too early to tell the sex of the baby (We'll find out in March.).....


We decided it's not too early to get it some clothing!
