Over the River and Through the Woods

Grady has had a house full of grandparents over the past couple of weekends. He also had his first overnight stay at Nanie's.

First, his grandaddy came for a visit...

Then, he met his great-grandmother and great-aunt, Evelyn, while enjoying a visit from his grandma...

On Sunday, which was officially Grandparents' Day, Grady had both grandmothers in the house...
Grady went with his mom to spend the night at Nanie's so Lauchlin could get some much-needed work done. Olivia stayed home for her Rocky Horror Show rehearsals and to teach her first Adult Spanish class at the Southern Cultural Heritage Center. This little guy had a ball with Nanie playing and snuggling...

It was also a good excuse for him to sport the adorable robe and slippers Nanie bought for him before he was born...

That's Why We Call Him Bean!

Grady has been hard at work with Mom as she works on the next issue of Vicksburg Impressions and takes care of other business.

Last week, Grady made trips to Grand Gulf Military Park near Port Gibson and Linden Plantation and Gardens, both to be featured in the fall issue. For the most part, little G-Man hung out in his Baby Bjorn while Mom did the interviewing and photographing. But, he couldn't help but pick up some friends along the way. Here he is with Cathi inside the Grand Gulf Museum. She was a huge Grady fan!

His most recent outing was to accompany Mom to the dentist. Everyone at Dr. Sadler's office loved our little guy. He even showed off by ripping a huge toot that was heard by everyone in the office. The hygienist in the room over asked if it was Rea, our hygienist. Although she was joking, it was one that could be mistaken for one of the grownup variety. We don't call him Bean for nothing!

This smiling tooter — as of last Thursday – had grown 5 inches since birth and weighed 10 pounds 6 ounces!

Weighing In...

Our little guy has been so busy growing. He'll be 6 weeks old Thursday, but we thought we'd flashback to his one-month birthday, since we failed to blog it on time. At four weeks, he weighed in at a whopping 8 pounds, 15 ounces — up from his birth weight of 6 pounds, 3 ounces and his weight of 5 pounds, 12 ounces when we left the hospital. Needless to say, he's growing steadily and already fitting into his 0-3 month and 0-6 month clothing. That's a big deal considering we had to purchase preemie clothing for him in his early days.

Turning a month old was quite a significant milestone, because it meant that he was finally big enough to start wearing his FuzziBunz cloth diapers...

He has also become a fan of the Baby Einstein videos we inherited from May and Ellen...
The next thing we know he'll be riding a bike and starting college. It goes so fast, but we're enjoying every minute of it!

BFF's

On Wednesday, Grady had his first visit to Sandy's, where he met his new friend, Leo Sanchez, born about three weeks after him.
We are sure these two will be fast friends...

They have many play dates to look forward to. Maybe the trilingual learning that goes on in the Sanchez home will rub off on our Grady. (Mom, Sophie, is French Canadian, while dad, Alex, is Mexican. Big brother Manu, 2, has already mastered both French and Spanish, as well as English.)
So far, Grady has mastered his own language of grunts and coos.

Rockin' Stroll

Sunday-Tuesday provided us with an opportunity to get out of the house and into the pretty weather.  We took little Grady in his BIG stroller around the neighborhood, and, along the way, we were invited by Sandy, Ned, and Mary Beth to have waffles over Team Mitchell's new table.  What a reward!
Grady really likes being outside (even if he does sleep through most of his excursions), so we're excited about the cool "Grove Weather" that's just around the corner.

The Magic Number

Our Grady turned three weeks old yesterday and, boy, is he growing...

"by leaps and bounds" as it says on one of his new, super soft blankets.

His biggest developments this week, besides eating every hour on the hour most days, are holding his head up for long periods of time and making adorable baby noises (mostly when he eats since that's mostly what he does). He's "finding his voice," and it's a darn cute one. We'll have to work on getting these sounds on video. For now, here's a photo of Grady-boy in action during one of his very alert spells...

He's had a whole week hanging out with his Grandma, which he's really enjoyed...

And, he had some QT with one of his favorite friends, Good Ole Sandy...

He's ready for the weekend now, which is sure to be filled with his favorite things — food, sleep and moms.

A Clean Bean

Grady's first bath was a success. He didn't mind the water and, even though he was a slippery little sucker, we managed to keep him in the bathtub and above the water...

We are excited to work the nighttime bath ritual into our routine and, best of all, to have a clean little bean in the house.

Another new favorite pre-bedtime activity: baby massage time...
