Pretty, Pretty Princesses...

It was a week for princesses. We went to Oxford and attended Juliana Felker's first birthday party, which was princess-themed.
Here is the little birthday princess with one of her favorite gifts of the day: tissue paper...

We also were able to visit our favorite little Russian princess, Maria, one of the many pint-size princesses in attendance...

The birthday girl was tuckered out by the time the sugar rush from the cake wore off and her princess friends went home. Here she is just before she passed out in Olivia's arms...

Earlier in the week, we both had colds and felt awful. So, we decided to make ourselves feel better by dressing up the cat in...you guessed it, her princess costume...

Surprisingly, she was a pretty good sport...

And, a beautiful princess!

Dammit Janet!

We can all sing along with Olivia in October! She just found out she'll be playing Janet in The Rocky Horror Picture Show...at the late night...double feature... picture show.

First Furcut

Clementine got into something crazy sticky the other day, which resulted in a back full of several clumpy mats. When we tried to wash it out, the situation became only more severe. Achieving this new 'do was a family affair we hope never to repeat:

Happy Trails and Hotty Toddy...

Today is Charlie Mitchell's last day at The Vicksburg Post, which means the end of an era, really. We are consoled only in the fact that he's headed to Oxford, where he will be the associate dean of the Meek School of Journalism and New Media at Ole Miss.
We helped bid him farewell Sunday in Edwards at Karen and Jimmy's for what Karen appropriately termed "Grove South:"

It was kind of like a little reunion seeing Lauchlin's former co-workers...

We're looking forward to bumping into Dean Mitchell in the real Grove soon.

Down Unda'

Lauchlin's cousin, Anne, has joined the blog world to document her travels in Australia, where she'll be living for the next four months. After graduating from Ole Miss May 2009, she promptly finished her MBA at Ole Miss (this summer) and decided to go see what life is like down under before she starts her new job in December.
We were unable to make the send-off party last weekend, but we received this photo of the world-traveler...

Here we are with Anne upon her first graduation from our alma mater...

We are confident about her journey...knowing that Lauchlin, obviously, taught her everything...

We can't wait to live vicariously through her adventures on the blog, Mate.

Work of Art

Inspired by our new favorite reality series, Work of Art, we decided to create our own work to hang above the bed. It was, obviously, a family project...

All it took was a piece of scrap wood from the shed, $10 worth of old door scraps from the antique store, white paint for the wash and lots of construction adhesive. Here is the finished product...

It took some time to figure out how to keep the doorknobs from falling off the wood and, thus, hitting some sleeping person in the head, but we tackled it with Tacky Glue and voilĂ ...

The piece fits our door theme, as you can see...

Who knows what other works of art are in store for us.

Back to School

Today begins the first full week of teaching for Olivia. We're both looking forward to a school year full of funny student stories and exciting adventures in Spanish (and history) learning. A new lunch box was at the top of the list for this year's school supplies...

Mojo approves.
